Bishops Criticize Biya Regime for Cameroon’s State of Misery

Buea: Bishops in the South West region have criticized the New Deal government under President Paul Biya, highlighting significant governance issues and widespread misery affecting the nation. They pointed out that bad governance has led to a situation where many Cameroonians are experiencing severe hardships.

According to Cameroon News Agency, the bishops emphasized that over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increase in the anxieties of Cameroonians, which have now escalated into cries of despair. They have attributed this to the ongoing misery and the deterioration of the country’s condition. The bishops stressed that this situation forces people to adopt desperate measures for survival, reflecting a broader crisis affecting the country.

In their statement, the bishops underscored the urgent need to address the crisis, which includes misery, hunger, destitution, unemployment, and despair, particularly in rural areas. They warned that these issues are heavily impacting not only the general population but also the most vulnerable groups, including the poorest and weakest members of society. The bishops called for immediate attention to these challenges to ensure the well-being and future of the nation.
